How It Works

Guided Self-Drive Safari

Our safaris are designed for travellers who want the freedom of driving their own 4x4, or a rented one, while enjoying the safety and structure of a fully guided experience.

Small, exclusive groups

We limit our groups to a maximum of 8 vehicles to maintain a personalised and exclusive experience.

Private or scheduled departures

Travel with your own private group of friends, or join one of our scheduled departures to meet like-minded adventurers.

Comfortable accommodation

Sleep in a comfortable rooftop tent on your 4x4 or a ground tent, depending on your preference.

Campfire dining

Each morning and evening, gather around a campfire while our outdoor chef prepares exceptional meals. All cooking and washing up is handled by our team.

Always in contact

Following the lead vehicle driven by our guide, you will always be in contact via 2-way radios guiding you all the way.

Fully personalised options

We also offer tailor-made safaris built around the specific interests and preferences of your group.

Our Signature Style

Overland Adventure Safaris

We don't sell ordinary tours. We build Overland Adventure Safaris: long journeys that combine wild landscapes, remote tracks, and the freedom of driving your own route with the confidence of expert guidance alongside you.

Even if you don't have 4x4 experience, you'll be shown exactly what you need to do to negotiate the terrain safely and comfortably, and to reach those remote places that most travellers never see.

The Quo Vadis Difference

What Sets Us Apart

Adventure without the admin

You travel with us to enjoy yourself. We handle the flow and the details so you can focus on the experience, the scenery, the wildlife, the people, and the road ahead.

Campfire life, done properly

Morning and evening you'll often find yourself around a campfire where the day begins with anticipation and ends with stories under the stars.

Outdoor-chef meals (and no dishes for clients)

Our safaris are famous for the campfire lifestyle, including an outdoor chef who prepares unforgettable meals, and we take care of the cleanup so clients can fully relax into the adventure.

Our journeys are built around people

Every safari is a unique experience and through these shared journeys, clients often become friends.

Where We Go

Africa's Wild Places

Our journeys take you into some of the most unforgettable landscapes in Southern Africa and beyond, from vast deserts and legendary wildlife regions to rugged coastlines and remote mountain routes.

South Africa

One of our core touring playgrounds, rich in variety, big scenery, and rewarding 4x4 travel. Standout routes include the Wild Coast, Gondwanaland Karoo, Baviaanskloof, and the Magic Mountain Special (Southern Cape and Little Karoo).

Namibia

A land of dunes, vast open spaces, wilderness coastlines and extraordinary desert light. Namibia is built for 4x4 exploration, with multiple safari options available.

Botswana

A jewel of wilderness travel, offering exceptional wildlife experiences and pristine regions that keep calling overland travellers back again and again.

Mozambique

Adds a tropical edge: warm Indian Ocean coastline, sand-driving challenges, and bush-to-beach adventure.

Zimbabwe

Home to Victoria Falls and remarkable wildlife reserves, Zimbabwe adds depth and drama to any Southern Africa itinerary.

East Africa (Expedition style)

For the true bucket-list traveller, a roughly 40-day expedition presented every second year. See our Annual Program for scheduled dates.
